If Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) is our last hope, then Mystic Falls and the Salvatore house will soon be home to the Travellers. What will become of our gang of misfits if all their fates are resting in the hands of a screwup?
Let’s bitch it out..
Ah witches. The witches have always been the most boring part of The Vampire Diaries, in my humble opinion of course. Maybe it has something to do with Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) being the resident witch on the show, and also being the resident screw up of Mystic Falls. There is not a plan that Bonnie can’t find a way to turn upside down. So why should this one be any different? There are people counting on her, and she decides that rather than tell her loved ones that she will be dying and not coming back, she thinks its a smart idea to lie. Not only lie to her loved ones, but also get everyone’s hopes up about a spell that can save people from the other side. Once that lie is revealed, she actually does come up with a plan to save them, but loses that and has to let Stefan (Paul Wesley) pass through to the other side. Is there any way that the other side can just take Bonnie and leave the others?
As much as I can’t stand Bonnie, I would be really happy to eat my words next week in the season finale and have her save the day. Since this is a story about witches, I’m thinking only the witches can actually save the day. My hearts sinks a little just typing that, because it means that my hope for getting Stefan back rests on Bonnie Bennett. <sigh>
Clearly since the witch story lines are my least favourite on the show, that means its time that we explored not just one type of witch, but two! I mean… really? The Travellers don’t think that the witches do real magic and the witches hate the Travellers so now its a battle between the two types of witches while everyone else is just caught in the middle. Great. Just what I want to watch every week. This Traveller BS has been so lame this season, I can’t wait until this is over. We have done the “someone took over my body” thing to death.
Obviously my heart melts a little when Stefan (Paul Wesley) is remembering the endearing things about Caroline (Candice Accola). It is SO obvious how he feels about her, but yet again, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is completely oblivious. Just goes on her merry little way, remembering making Barbie castles as a child with Car, while her ex soul mate is thinking about our blonde friend in a completely different way. And OMG, when she is screaming for help after Stefan is killed, my heart breaks in two.
Other Observations:
- If Stefan is dead, I’m out. I’m putting this in writing here and now that if Stefan is actually out of the show, I’m done watching. I can say this so casually because I find it really hard to believe that they would kill one of the three main stars of the show. But just in case, you read it here first.
- Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is a genius with sarcasm. Sometimes I forget just how well he does the snide, sarcastic comments but he is on point in this episode. I couldn’t get over it. This must be why I love his friendship with Enzo (Michael Malarkey) so much. They are both sarcastic, witty and play off each other like magic on screen. It would be a real disappointment if Enzo didn’t come back to be a regular cast member next season. He really brings something extra to Damon and to the show.
- Matt (Zach Roerig) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) are basically just furniture on the show these days. Jeremy is a hunter for goodness sake! He can’t have a better storyline than picking up an ailing Damon on the side of the road? And the only laugh that came from a scene with these two dolts is because Damon is the one actually speaking. The show has struggled significantly over the years with trying to figure out what to do with the few characters that remain human. It seems apparent that they are still struggling.
So what did you think of this episode? Is Stefan really dead? Can Bonnie actually save the day for once? Sound off below!
The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursday night at 8pm EST on the CW. The show returns next Thursday for the season finale.

lol only thing good about this episode was the emotion Caroline showed when Stefan faded. It is very hard to feel any sort of sadness when Stefan dies because you know he will come back. If Stefan doesnt the show is over. The only thing that keeps me interested in this crapfest, is the chemistry shown between Stefan and Caroline this season.
I also agree Enzo needs to come back next season. He and Damon make such a good pair. Damon has been boring for the longest time and the pairing between the two really has helped his character.
