The Originals delivers its first real cliffhanger in a long time as we are left wondering how this will all come together in the season finale next week. Where does this leave us?
Let’s bitch it out…
I need to start with the baby. As I have been predicting for awhile now, the baby is finally coming in the season finale. But I must draw your attention to the fact that the baby isn’t coming because its ready, it is only happening because a spell went wrong. However, let’s park that little bit of information for the time being and just address the important issue here – THE BABY IS FINALLY COMING. What kind of world it is coming in to, now that is another issue altogether.
So, let’s start with what the heck is happening to Klaus (Joseph Morgan) right now. I don’t even understand. This isn’t happening. Klaus is all powerful. That’s just what he is. First of all, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) was able to even touch him in a fight, which is completely unbelievable, so clearly he is losing his strength. And he isn’t able to heal. So basically he has no benefits to anyone at this moment and is more of a hindrance than anything else. So clearly I’m a little shaken by these events. Is Klaus still Klaus without all the bravado and the power to back it up?
Next, that awful human woman Francesca (Peta Sergeant) isn’t actually a human at all. So basically, I was right when I said that the writers have yet to make a storyline for humans on this show. With all the supernatural factions they have floating around, there has been no need for humans too. Turns out its exactly as I thought… sort of. I didn’t quite make this leap. I just thought no one paid attention to the humans. Not that she actually wasn’t human. However, I digress.
Oliver (Chase Coleman) is actually much worse than we thought. A few episodes ago, he let his own people be bombed in order to rally the troops against the peace treaty that had been signed. He saw women and children injured in the blast and killed a friend to keep the secret. And now, he has sacrificed the queen bee of the werewolves, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and the baby in order to keep this war going. Maybe he didn’t do the actual sacrificing, but he had a part in it and he knows and is doing nothing. And that, my friends, will be unforgivable to Elijah (Daniel Gillies). And so our ever shirtless friend Oliver’s days are numbered.
Now, my concern is the werewolves, and all the damage they inflicted at the Mikaelson house. Actually, one little bit of damage in particular: one of them bit Elijah! Another indiscretion that will be unforgivable. But my main cause for concern is that Klaus has always been the antidote to werewolf bites (granted he is generally the one doing the biting in the first place, but that’s neither here nor there). I could care less about those other vampires, including Diego (Eka Darville). Good riddance buddy. But if Klaus has lost his powers, so to speak, how the heck is Elijah going to be saved from this?
Now. Moving on to my dear Cami (Leah Pipes). The girl is in the secret closet for about five seconds and then she knows all the secrets of the centuries? Good thing her uncle kept good notes, otherwise she wouldn’t have been there to vow to Elijah that Marcel doesn’t have Hayley. Because clearly, after arriving 8 seconds earlier, she would have information like that and be able to swear to an original vampire about it. I like Cami, I really do, but her trust and need to stand up for Marcel are wearing extremely thin.
Other Observations:
- WTF is Davina (Danielle Campbell) thinking? Seriously. WTF. I can’t even delve any deeper in to this one, because she has just turned annoying. And its a shame that Josh (Steven Krueger) has to suffer as a result of her stupidity because he is actually entertaining and fun to watch. I hope her idiocy doesn’t get him killed. That would be a shame.
- I bet Marcel was good around war time. He certainly has a way with the rah-rah, “Are you with me?” speeches that led many young men in to war back in the day. Nothing much has changed because Marcel brings them all in to war that can’t be won. Seriously, he led them to their death by thinking they had even a glimmer of hope against Elijah. I mean… please.
So what did you think of this episode? Did your jaw drop as many times as mine did? How do you think Klaus gets his strength back? What the heck will happen to the baby?! Sound off below!
