As each season of Justified draws to a close, you can always expect a rash of episodes that are highly entertaining, full of twists, shoot-outs, etc. and ‘Coalition’ is one for the books as all of our players leap into action to find Mag Bennett’s missing $3.2 million.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! As Ringer cruises towards its conclusion, the writers finally figure out that the show works best as a ludicrous melodrama and they pile on the gimmicks: a suicide attempt, a body in the freezer, and a cliffhanger. Plus: the world’s most honest maid staff. Oh my!

This week Smash continues to figure out what kind of show it wants to be but ultimately, it feels like a game of high and low: we get some really good stuff, but that’s balanced out with some really horrible junk.

This week on Mad Men, we got a substantial amount of Betty (January Jones) who, in my opinion, took a back seat in the tail end of last season. True to Mad Men form, we learned quite a bit about other characters even if they were in the periphery.

After many long months, Game of Thrones returns to further explore the lives of those seeking power in Westeros, the fictional world of writer George RR Martin. As the second season begins, it’s clear that the some of the challenges that the show suffered in the early episodes of its inaugural season have been overcome as season two gets off to a much stronger start.
Let’s all give a collective cheer for the return of one of television’s best dramas…
