Now that’s what I’m talking about! As Ringer cruises towards its conclusion, the writers finally figure out that the show works best as a ludicrous melodrama and they pile on the gimmicks: a suicide attempt, a body in the freezer, and a cliffhanger. Plus: the world’s most honest maid staff. Oh my!

This week on Mad Men, we got a substantial amount of Betty (January Jones) who, in my opinion, took a back seat in the tail end of last season. True to Mad Men form, we learned quite a bit about other characters even if they were in the periphery.

After many long months, Game of Thrones returns to further explore the lives of those seeking power in Westeros, the fictional world of writer George RR Martin. As the second season begins, it’s clear that the some of the challenges that the show suffered in the early episodes of its inaugural season have been overcome as season two gets off to a much stronger start.
